6 Months

So we are really at 7.5 months! And things are better then ever! A few weeks ago Sawyer turned a corner and has become sooooo much fun! We have 8 teeth and he is eating baby food with his bottles! He eats at 9,1,5, and then bedtime! Nap time is 1100am and 300pm, he figured all that out on his own! And then this last week he started to crawl! He moves so fast and I never know what room I will find him in! With all the crawling and swimming he is still sleeping through the night! So Tom and I can not complain! We are still so blessed to have my mom here to Nanny for us three times a week, Sawyer loves it! Sawyer and I have also started to have more and more play dates, so hopefully we can get over the "stranger -danger" period! I had to leave Sawyer for the 1st time last weekend, it was the HARDEST thing I had ever done! And then I am turning around going to a wedding the 1st and 3rd weekend of September, so that should be interesting, but I know he will be with his dad and my mom and then my mom, so he is in good hands!!! Here are a few pics of the big man! Feel free to let us know when and if you want to skype!

PS: Grandparents if you are out and about and get clothes please get 18 to 24 months! He is already in 12 month! hahaha :)

2 months old and I love to sleep any time except nap time!!

Where have the past 3 months gone? I cannot believe our little big man is 3 months old this week! Things have gotten a lot better! He has finally out grown the colic for the most part and his reflux is pretty much under control with his medication! He takes his meds twice a day and then before bed he gets a bit of rice cereal in his bottle. This has really helped him! The two-month shots were not fun at all. I had to make Tom come with us. I know I see medical stuff every day at work, but when it is your own child it is completely different! He did have a low-grade fever and slept a lot, so we are hoping that the four-month shots are a little nicer to us! We go for those the first week of May!
Sawyer is our world! He is so much fun to watch and play with. He smiles back at you and even laughs out loud sometimes. He loves when his dad makes fart noises; he thinks that is sooooo funny! Tummy time is going well, he gets up on his forearms and the legs will come soon! Rolling over has been a task since his tummy is sooo round! The best thing is he is starting to reach for stuff! It is amazing how if he sees something in front of him he will reach out and try to get it! Oh yeah, and he knows what his bottle is now, because the minute he sees that he screams and leans forward to try to get it in his mouth!!! My little piggy!
Bath time is still the best part of the day! He loves to sit in his bath and relax. But he really loves getting in the shower with his dad! As soon as he hears the shower turn on he gets really excited! It takes us an extra 5-10 mins after each shower/bath to dry between all of his rolls! Sawyer also thinks he is to cool for naps! We get lucky if we hit the one-hour mark at any nap time! I am hoping that will change soon!
The dogs have been awesome through all this! They love Sawyer, and Baxter is his protector! When we go on walks Baxter has to stay right next to the stroller! Also we have made some new friends! I met Lauren at the nail salon and she has a little girl that is two months older then Sawyer and they live across the street from us! This has been great to share stories with each other and we can’t wait for the play dates to start when they get older!
I want to thank everyone for all the love and support the past few months! All the visits, phone calls, and gifts have been amazing! Thank you so much. Sawyer, Tom, and I have been doing great. We are so lucky to have his Nana (My Mom) down here to watch him on the days that Tom and I both work! I still love being a nurse and love my job, but I hate going to work now because I miss Sawyer so much! I know he is in the best hands though, and I usually make it home before bedtime!!!
Well I hope everyone enjoys the pictures, these are a few of our favorites! He has changed so much! Being a mom is a lot harder then I thought it would ever be, but soooo worth it! Tom has been amazing dad and hubby! He is the professional bottle maker and he is the one that puts Sawyer to bed every night, plus sooo much more! We are so blessed to have this little man in our lives! HE IS THE BEST!!! Love and miss you all!!!

The Arrival!!!

Baby Sawyer Johnathan has arrived! He was born on January 10th at 6:05am! He weighed in at a big 7lbs 15oz and 22 ½ inches; all handsome little boy! Tom and I could not feel anymore blessed; he is just perfect!

So here is the story; (If you want the real details, see me later!! HAHA!)

On Saturday night during the Colts game I was feeling blah and not like myself, but we really didn’t think much of it since I was 40 weeks pregnant! Then after the game, I went to the bathroom and realized I lost the plug, so that was our first sign something might start happening! Tom and I went to bed, and we were just waiting to see what might happen! Then at 5:36am I woke up with my first uncomfortable contraction! Even though it hurt a bit, the excitement was helping me get through it! After this contraction, they came about every 20 minutes, but were manageable at this point!

Then around 2:00pm I could not handle the pain anymore so we went to the hospital. We were checked in right away, and found I was only 2cm maybe 3cm dilated. They gave me a shot to help my body relax. They told me this was something they give to first time moms to help with anxiety and to let you relax at home during early labor! YEAH RIGHT, not me! Come to find out if you are truly in labor, it relaxes the muscles enough to send you into active labor, but does nothing for the pain! And in about 3 hours we realized I was in ACTIVE LABOR, but they had sent me home until the contractions became more regular and stronger!

Tom and I came home around 4:30pm and the real action started to happen. I tried to lie in every position, but it would not help. I really think I could of dealt with the contractions, but I was having the WORSE BACK LABOR! We tried the bathtub, shower, squatting, laying, sitting, everything you could think of, and I could not get the pain in my back under control. So we decided at 8:30pm to head back to the hospital. I had made my mind up that I was not leaving until they did something about the pain!

When we got the hospital, we found out that I was 3cm dilated and that Sawyer was facing the wrong way! Every time I had a contraction he was going into my lower back, so the back labor was going to be around until he flipped or came out! Also Sawyer’s heart rate was high, so I received numerous blouses of fluid. So at this time they admitted us and we got to our room around 10:00pm. They asked me if I wanted something for the pain IV, but I said no because I did not want Sawyer to have Narcan after he came out! So finally the epidural team came to the room! I was so excited, and it worked! Tom was great, he set his phone to help me flip every 20-30 mins so the epidural would not just effect one side of my body! They wanted me to turn side to side to get Sawyer to flip. (Guess what, he didn’t!) I finally got to relax and sleep, and I am glad I did because I needed all the energy I could store up for the big event!

Then at 2:00am Niagara Falls happen! Yep my water broke, and it was the most the nurse had seen and she told the doctor it was A LOT!!! Tom even said my stomach went down after that! HAHA! Then at 4:30, I had the biggest urge to push! The nurse came in and checked me and I was 9cm almost 10cm at this time! We started to push at this time, to see where we were! Finally at 5:00am the doctor arrived and we started to really push! And we pushed, and pushed, and pushed! And then the back pain came back twice as worse! To all my pregnant friends: THEY TURN THE EPIDURAL OFF WITHOUT TELLING YOU!!!!! It is so you have the urge to push, Andrea told me this, but I didn’t think the medical field would be that evil! HAHA! But, like I said if I did not have the awful back pain, it might have been better! The doctor then realized I could not push as well because of the back pain, so she gave me some Fentanyl through my epidural, and it helped for about 2.5 mins! By this time I was so focused on pushing him out I did not care! With mom on one side holding a leg, and Tom on the other, we got him out!!! They actually placed him on my stomach and I did not even realize it, because I was still pushing! HAHA!

The first thing Tom and I did was check to make sure it was still a boy, and it was!!! Then Tom cut the cord and went over the warmer with Sawyer while the doctor stitched me up and I finished the labor process! The doctor and the nurse did not think Sawyer’s cry was strong enough so they gave him a little oxygen and then we heard a good cry! So we did not have to go to NICU and he got to stay with us the whole time!!!

The next two days we stayed at the hospital, and I started to breastfeed! Things were looking great! Then Sawyer’s labs came back and he was bit jaundice, but not enough to need the lights! We got home and the first night was crazy! We could not calm him down or make him happy! Lucky the next day we had 2 doctors appointments. Come to find out I was not producing enough milk to make our big guy full, which was causing the fussiness and no pooping issues! So we started to supplement 1 ounce of formula until my milk came in! It worked great and it gives Tom a chance to feed the little one too!

So today is day 6 of being home and we are getting about 3 to 4 hours of sleep at a time! My milk has come in and Sawyer is way more satisfied! So now we are supplementing with breast milk during the day and formula at night! We have no problems now with weight, poop, pee, or unhappiness!

We are all doing well! I am REALLY soar but healing and working on bonding with my big guy! Tom as been amazing, and the boys are already best buds! Thank you to all of you for all the love and support, we feel so blessed! I will do my best to keep this updated; energy and time is a rare thing right now! ☺ Enjoy the pictures, love and miss you all!!!
